[Class 123 (i).] A gas-collecting box 2, in the roof of a coke oven, is.closed by a flat cover 20 having a sharp edged sealing ring 22 backed by a resilient packing such as asbestos. The cover is held at one end by a bolt 27 and spring 26, and at the other by a raised inclined surface 31 on the cover which is wedged under a claw 30, a lug 32 being provided to assist this action.
