[Class 87 (ii).] In an apparatus of the hopper-andplunger type for heating fusible synthetic materials to be subsequently injected into a die-casting machine, an annular piston works in a cylindersupplied periodically by the hopper and delivers the heated material to one or more injection nozzles for charging moulds under pressure, and a hollow core extends into the piston and is heated internally by electric or other heating means. In the illustrated form the material is forced through a ring of nozzles g, communicating with the moulds, by an annular ram m operating between an interchangeable internally-heated massive core d and an externally-heated cylinder a with which a feeding hopper i is combined. Electric resistances b, e form the heating- elements and can be regulated simultaneously or separately. Wedge-shaped projections p, Fig. 3, form similarly-shaped spaces leading to the various nozzles to facilitate and equalize discharge of the material. An aperture r in the ram permits escape of air.
