Abstract
374,418. Snap-action switches. POWER, R. F., 18, Chesterford Gardens, Hampstead, London. Dec. 4, 1930, Nos. 36657 and 38518. [Class 38 (v).] A snap-action switch comprises a diaphragm 1 which is clamped along its periphery between a cover 2 and a casing 2a and carries an insulating pin 12 formed with a socket 10 in which loosely engages a projection 9 of an actuating pin 3, slidable in a gland in the cover. When the pin 3 is moved in either direction, the diaphragm is moved with lost motion to give a snap action. A bridging contact strip 15 has a square aperture and fits over the squared end of the spindle 12 being then rotated to engage notches 12a where it is held against rotation by upstanding lugs on the member 15 engaging slots in a washer 16. In the form shown in Fig. 6 the actuating pin is formed with a reduced portion 18 passing through an insulating bush 17 carried by the diaphragm, and transmission springs 21, 21a are mounted between the bush and actuating abutments 19, 19a. The actuating pin is moved by a tumbler lever 5.
