Abstract

653,509. Snap-action switches; retractive switches. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. July 18, 1947, No. 19298. Convention date, July 7, 1939. [Class 38(v)] A switch comprises fixed contacts 26, Fig. 2, either of which can be connected to a fixed contact 29 by a rocking arm 30 pivoted on the contact 29. The arm 30 is rocked with a snap action by a spring- pressed plunger 33 housed in an opening in a block 32 with which the lower end of a. pivoted lever 35 engages. Two arms 30 and two plungers may be provided to form a double pole switch which may also be made as a double or single throw switch. The block 32 is formed with one or two additional openings to accommodate spring plungers 41 which engage the cover of the switch to bring the lever 35 back to its central position when pressure on the lever is removed. If the lever is required to have a stable central position the arm 30 is formed at its bend with a groove as shown at 30b in Fig. 1. If the arm is formed with a flat central portion as - shown at 45b in Fig. 10 the lever snaps from one extreme position to the other. If only one plunger 41 is provided the switch is retractive at one of its extreme positions when the handle 35 is released. Fig. 11 shows a modification in which the rocking arm 49 carries a contact 26 at one end only.
