374,299. Sharpening razors. GELL, J., 123, Upper Tollington Park, London. June 30, 1931, No. 18873. [Class 60.] Apparatus for sharpening safety razor blades consists of a box E<1> in which is mounted an abrasive roller A, of length greater than that of the blade, driven by a handle F, and driving, through a band and pulleys B, H, a screwed shaft G. On the shaft is mounted a bladeholder J provided with a clamping-screw K whereby the friction between the holder and the shaft may be regulated. The holder has a plate L pressed by a spring M to clamp the blade ; a modified holder for double-edged blades has a hinged clamping-piece pressed down by a screw. In operation the blade is pressed on, and moves along the roller ; reversal of the rotation turns the blade over to treat the other face of the edge and moves the blade along the roller.
