Abstract

373,479. Tilting seats for vehicles. MENIER, G., 61, Rue de Monceau, Paris. July 24, 1931, No. 21251. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1930. [Class 52 (ii).] A vehicle seat 2 is adapted to tilt forward on its front edge 3 by means of fluid-pressure operated jacks 7 acting at the rear of the seat. The moving member 6 of the jack 7 is connected to the seat by a pivot 5, the jack itself being adjustably articulated at 8 in holes 9 in the fixed chassis portion. Fluid pressure in the jack is generated in the pump 11, which is wperated by a small motor 14 functioning under the action of the vacuum of the inlet manifold of the engine of the vehicle. With the engine running, throttles 16, 17 are opened by levers 18, 19 respectively and fluid is pumped into the jack from the reservoir 12. The seat can be maintained in any position by closure of the throttle 17.
