Abstract
370,815. Water gas generators. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW, Ltd., Humglas House, Carlisle Place, London.-(Assignees of Perry, J. A.; Swarthmore, and Hall, E. L. ; Broad Street, Philadelphia, both in Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) Sept. 14, 1931, No. 25717. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1930. [Class 55 (i).] In a two-shell water gas set comprising a generator having means for admitting secondary air marginally adjacent the top of the fuel bed on to which oil is sprayed, together with a superheater, a dust collecting chamber is arranged intermediate of the generator and the superheater. Secondary air is admitted during the " blow " to the top of the fuel bed 2 of a generator 1 through conduits 7, the blast products passing to a dust collector 20 which is surmounted by a superheater 12. This is followed by an uprun which is carburetted by oil from a sprayer 10, the resulting gases passing through the superheater before storage. A down-run may be made with steam admitted at 17. In a modification the dust collector comprises a separate chamber disposed between the generator and the superheater.
