Abstract
369,131. Vacuum switches. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) Aug. 4, 1931, No. 22093. Convention date, Aug. 4, 1930. [Class 38 (v).] The movable contact member 4 within the container 1 of a vacuum switch is supported by a thin metal tube 5 the inner end of which is sealed to the contact member and the outer end sealed to the glass container at 6. The switch is operated by a rod 7 passing through the tube and secured at its inner end thereto to torsional stress only. An operating handle 8 is provided for this purpose. By this construction the metallic surfaces within the container are small and of simple shapes that present no difficulty in degasification. In a modified construction the container is of L-shape the operating tube being located in one limb and the contact-arm in the other.
