364,908. Stays; pinless hinges. AUSTER, Ltd., LANE, P., and SMALL, W. W., 174, Barford Street, Birmingham. Feb. 21, 1931, No. 5480. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii).] A telescopic stay for a vehicle windscreen has attached to it an arm which engages a cooperating member to hold the windscreen closed or slightly open; this arm preferably serves also to lock the two parts of the stay together. In the form shown, the windscreen 1, hinged as shown at 2 to the top member of the fixed frame, is supported when open by a telescopic stay comprising a member 11 hinged to the frame and sliding in a member 8 of flanged channel section hinged to the windscreen. The member 11 has a screw pin carrying a nut 13<a> which clamps the parts 8, 11 together to hold the screen in any position. This nut is operated by an arm 13, which has two notches 18, 19 in its lower edge for engagement with a pin or projection 23 on the fixed frame, the projection having a screwed extension with a wing nut to clamp the arm 13 ; the notch 19 is shaped so that the arm 13 can be used as a lever to draw the screen tightly closed by cam action against the pin 23.
