364,515. Door fastenings; latches. BOURGEOT, A. F., 19, Rue du Plateau, Issy-Les-Moulineaux, Seine, France. July 22, 1931, No. 20929. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1930. [Class 44.] A ball 1, Fig. 3, rigidly secured to the door post 4 by a shank 2, passes through a circular hole 7 in the lock case 5, pushes a latch 12 to the right by contact with face 15 and is received by a recess 11. The latch 12 is returned by a spring 20, to retain the ball. It is withdrawn by means of a lever 19. In a modification, Figs. 7 and 8, the ball 1 by contact with an oblique surface 38 raises a lever 33 against a spring 35 and a latch-lever 12 is released by removal of a shoulder 36. The latch-lever is rotated about its axis 23 by a spring 20 and retains the ball as before. The latch-lever is locked by an arm 27a pivoted to it at 28 and bearing against the lock casing at q. To unlock, a lever 25 rotates the arm 27a by contact with arm 27 and a spring 30 withdraws the latch-lever against the action of spring 20 to the position in which it is engaged by the shoulder 36.
