Abstract

363,229. Cutting and slicing meat &c. BERKEL, A. W. VAN, 28c, Erdbergerlaende, Vienna. Feb. 24, 1931, No. 5746. [Class 5 (i).] A mincing machine, in which the meat &c. is fed through a casing 2 by a rotatable screw 5 to a perforated discharge plate 3, has one or more rotary cutters each in the form of a thin circular concave knife. The end of the feed screw 5 has a polygonal projection 8 carrying a cross arm 9, fitted with pins 10 on which are rotatably mounted the concave disc knives 11. When the arm 9 is rotated the discs 11 also rotate about the pins 10 thus exerting a combined slicing and shearing action. The arm 9 may consist of a thin resilient slat 9b carried on a central boss 9a, bearing upon a spring washer 12, so that the knives 11 always press evenly on the plate 3. The pins 10 may also be replaced by universal joints to give greater play.
