Abstract
361,955. Rope railways. WEBB, J. B., 1624, Woodsboro' Drive, Royal Oak, Michigan, U.S.A. Aug. 25, 1930, No. 25384. [Class 104 (ii).] A conveyer system for transporting articles &c., upon which various operations are being performed, to any desired part of a plant comprises a travelling cable &c. 2 hung by trollies 4, 4<1> from a track 1, and having lugs 5 engaging lugs 14a on the load trollies 14 running on a load track 11 comprising a pair of rails 12, 12<1> arranged under the track 1. The trollies 14 may be switched on to a side track for stationary operation on the load by means of a switch 30, 30<1> pivoted at 31, 31<1> to the track 11 and adapted to be moved into alignment with the side track by a hand-lever 44 and rod 47 connected to a bracket 33 carrying the switch rails. A tension rod 53 holds the switch in either of its extreme positions. The bracket 33 is supported by rollers running on curved tracks 36, 37 laid across the track 1. Means are provided for stopping the cable when the switch is in position to side track a trolley 14. The conveyer may run from one floor to another, and may be at such a height that the trollies 14 run above work benches.
