Abstract

361,015. Epicyclic toothed gearing. SODDY, F., 131, Banbury Road, Oxford. Feb. 19, 1931, No. 25992. Divided on 358,128. [Class 80 (i).] In epicyclic toothed reduction gearing of the eccentric type in which externally or internally toothed planet-wheels 4, 5 rotatable on eccentrics 2, 3 on the driving-shaft A gear with internal or external teeth 6, 7 on a drum 8, pins 25, 29 engage circular holes 28, 27a on the planets 3, 4 and similar holes 40, 27, 26a on rings 9, 24, 10 secured by bolts 11 to the shaft B. The diameters of the holes are equal to the maximum eccentricity of the planets plus the diameter of the pins. The pins thus. roll on the peripheries of the holes without sliding action, and are formed slightly convex at their ends to engage retaining plates 9a, 10b by point contact only. The bolts 11 pass freely through additional holes 13 in the planet-wheels. The drum 8 shown may be stationary, when the shaft B is driven reversely, or the shaft B may be stationary, when the casing is driven forwardly.
