360,620. Manoeuvring valves. COCKBURNS, Ltd. and MAoNICOLL, D., Clydesdale Engineering Works, Cardonald, near Glasgow. Oct. 17, 1930, No. 31099. [Class 135.] Interconnected valve members.-Relates to the actuation of manoeuvring valves for turbine plants, particularly for ship propulsion. An ahead valve 12, an astern valve 1, and a shut-down valve 12 for the astern section are provided, and the handwheels 5, 6 for the latter valves are normally interlocked by a spring-pressed plunger 8. They may, however, be actuated independently for seating down. The interlock becomes operative automatically when the reversing valve is opened. Should the pressure between the valves 1, 2 fall below a predetermined point, an automatic valve 10 discharges leakage steam to a low-pressure stage of the turbine.
