Abstract

359,585. Speed governors. CROSET, L. P., Haverstock, Strangford Road, Tankerton, Kent. July 29, 1930, No. 22819. [Class 57.] In a control device for internal-combustion engines, the fuel pump driving shaft b is driven from the engine cam-shaft e by a train of spiral gear wheels f, g, d. A centrifugal governor is mounted on the shaft b and comprises balls n guided between a stationary plate k and an inclined disc m. The loading spring o of the governor bears at one end against the cup p and the loading is varied by a lever i which is also connected to the gear wheel d, which is mounted on a splined portion of the shaft and thereby varies the time injection of the pump. Alternatively the loading of the governor spring and the moving of the gear wheel may be carried out by two separate levers. The movement of the governor sleeve is transmitted by rods u, v, to vary the output of the fuel pump.
