Abstract

<PICT:0357784/IV/1> <PICT:0357784/IV/2> Horsehair and like fabrics are treated over a part of the surface only with an adhesive solution to prevent the hairs working loose. The fabric 1 passes over rollers 3, 4, and under cups 16, 20, fed with adhesive solution from a tank 7 which is supplied with compressed air by a pipe 12. The fabric is in tensional engagement with the open bases of the cups. The cups 20 attached to the frame 5 serve to treat the selvedges 35 of the fabric; the other cups 16 are mounted on a carriage 9 which is reciprocated on rails 6 across the fabric so as to produce sinuous lines 35a. According to the first Provisional Specification the fabric may be coated by passage between rollers, one of which is provided with a raised pattern and is partly immersed in a tank of the adhesive solution.
