Abstract
357,459. Knitting-machines. LEILICH, W., 17, Wartburgstrasse, Chemnitz, Germany. Jan. 15, 1931, No. 1356. [Class 74 (ii).] The lower part of the knitting-cam of a circular machine, having two cam tracks and long and short-butted needles for the production of heel and toe work by continuous rotary movement, is formed by two parts 6, 10, one lying radially within the other. The inner part 10 is adjustable vertically with respect to the part 6, and is adjustable to a position, Fig. 2, wherein it does not depress the short butted needles 4, to a second position at the level of the part 6, and to a third position wherein all the needles are caused to form longer loops, e.g. for forming a cutting line. The part 10 is controlled by a spring 14, and by a cam 20 carried by a ring 17 which has limited movement circumferentially of the cam ring 1. The ring 17 is actuated by means of a pattern chain, and spring means are provided for locking it in the two positions in which the cam 20 is operative upon the part 10. The invention is described in connection with a stationary needle cylinder machine.
