Abstract
357,053. Apparatus for recording the passage of trains. WETZER,R., Pfronten, Bavaria, Germany. Jan. 26, 1931, No. 2514. Convention date, Feb. 12, 1930. [Class 105.] A recording device for investigating the speed of vehicles comprises three, switches placed in the path thereof, the first switch actuated by a vehicle travelling in either direction releasing the driving clock of the recorder, the actuation of the remaining two switches causing the recorder to record a mark the length of which is a function of the speed of the vehicle. A vehicle passing over switch I completes a circuit from the battery f, through the earth, through switch c, electromagnet u<1> and time switch z. The magnet armature b is rocked to the left, closing contacts h, k, i and opening contact d. The closing of contact i establishes a circuit/, n, i, t, m to operate an electromagnet t which releases the clockwork mechanism of a travelling-tape recorder w. When the vehicle passes over switch II a circuit is formed through the electromagnets y to operate the marking device on the tape, a retaining contact x continuing the record until the vehicle passes. over switch III. When this happens, a circuit f, e, III, k, V is made, V being a relay which causes the opening of contact m to release the recorder magnets y, t. The operation of the relay V also closes a switch o in circuit with a clock-winding magnet p of the time switch z. This switch z momentarily opens the contact g a certain time (e.g. 15 secs.) after the vehicle has passed and so releases the armature b and resets the apparatus. A vehicle passing in the opposite direction closes switch III and operates magnet u2 which then prepares the circuits for operation by switches II, I.
