Abstract

355,723. Spray carburetters. MEMINI, G. and VALENTI, L., 16, Via Poliziano, Milan, Italy. Feb. 28, 1930, No. 6667. Convention date, March 5, 1929. [Class 7 (iii).] The carburetter comprises at least two elementary carburetters the air inlet openings of which are so arr a n g e d opposite one another with their axes in the same line and at such a distance apart that the mixture returning, due to cylinder valve closure, from one elementary carburetter is directed into the air inlet of the opposite carburetter and utilized by the latter. A float chamber 1 feeds nozzles 9a, 9<1>a, projecting into choke tubes 8a, 8<1>a, the air inlet ends of which are separated by a chamber 3 communicating with the atmosphere through an opening 4a. Throttle valves are provided at 7a, 7<1>a and slow-running ducts at 10a, 10<1>a. The arrangement is stated not only to economize fuel, but to prevent danger of fire from back-firing. In a modification, the carburetter comprises four elementary carburetters fed by a single central floatchamber, the air inlets of pairs of elementary carburetters being arranged as described above. In a further modification, the axes of the elementary carburetters are parallel, the air inlets being bent round to face one another, and in a still further modification there are two independent carburetters fed from two float chambers. Specification 173,481, [Class 7 (iii), Internal-combustion engines, Carburetting-apparatus &c. for], is referred to.
