Abstract

294,402. Robinson, J. W. Oct. 7, 1927. Spray carburettors. -Separate converging nozzles 12 are provided for light and heavy fuels which may be delivered separately or simultaneously into a Venturi portion 11 of a mixing chamber 10 which is surrounded by an exhaust jacket 21 completely enclosed by a chamber 17 through which the air is admitted. The admission is controlled by a throttle 20 and a weighted valve 19 and the air, which is not so intensely heated as the mixture, passes to the Venturi by way of ports 16 and dished chamber 15. Exhaust enters the jacket 21 at 22 and leaves at 23. The mixing chamber has a throttle valve 14. Fuel is supplied to the nozzles from a float chamber 36 by way of passages controlled by valves 28, and also by valves such as 26 connected to a bellcrank lever 31 loaded by a de-centering spring 32 so that the lever, unless prevented by a stop in order to obtain a mixture of the fuels, snaps over to one side or the other to bring one or other fuel into use.
