Abstract

355,249. Roller-and-breast grinding mills. HOLMES, L. G., 89, Boulevard Adolphe Max, Brussels, and GRINDING MIXING SEPARATING ENGINEERING CO., SOC. ANON., Ampsin-lez-Huy, both in Belgium. May 19, 1930, No. 15347. [Class 59.] A closed feed hopper a co-operates with a throat b and casing s which enclose the grinding roll c and breast p for the purpose of preventing access of air to the material being ground. The hopper a and throat b are hinged to a rod k to which the casing s is also hinged. The hopper is provided with a partition d which divides the hopper into two compartments. One or more holes l covered by a movable plug ml provide means for the passage of the material being ground from one compartment to the other when multiple grinding is being effected. A slidable scraper e, operable by a nut g on the cover h, contacts with the roll c and prevents the passage of material between the two compartments. Inspection windows h<1>, u are provided in the cover h and casing s respectively and an outlet orifice g is provided in the throat for the removal of the ground material. The bearings of the roller are adjustable in height by wedges y, y<1>, and the casing v, Fig. 1, surrounding the means for reciprocating the roller is attached to the mill frame by bolts x slidable in slots w so that the casing may be moved when adjusting the bearings.
