Abstract
354,440. Suspending overhead cables. KINSEY, T. J. and GAVED, J. L., Bird Street, Lichfield, Staffordshire. May 28, 1930, No. 16403. [Class 36.] A suspension clamp for an overhead power cable comprises a bracket 1 having a pin 2 at its upper end for attachment to an insulator, and grooved pulleys 3 at its lower end, the cable being passed over the pulleys 3 and clamped by a plate 4 intermediate of the pulleys. The plate 4, which is held by bolts 6 passed through lugs 7 and a clamping plate 7a on the bracket 1, is formed with a V-shaped groove 5 in which the cable is gripped. The groove 5 may be curved longitudinally to prevent undue bending of the cable. The pulleys 3 may be replaced by a single pulley. When the clamp is used as an end fitting, the end of the cable after passing over both pulleys may be carried back under the bracket and fixed to the main length of the cable.
