352,118. Flashlight powders. KREBS, C., 120, Sprendlingerlandstrasse, Offenbachon-Main, Germany. April 16, 1930, No. 12016. [Class 9 (ii).] A flashlight powder is made by mixing finely powdered zirconium with oxygen-carrying salts such as nitrates, chlorates, &c., of rare earth metals or of alkaline-earth metals or of ammonium. Other rare earth metals such as thorium, titanium, or cerium may be added. An example contains three parts of zirconium mixed with four parts of zirconium nitrate or with three parts of barium nitrate.
