Abstract
350,153. Television. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London.-(Assignees of Ranger, R. H. ; 574, Parker Street, Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A.) April 23, 1930, No. 12598. Convention date, May 3, 1929. [Class 40 (iii).] In a multiplex picture transmission system a light-interrupter disc has two or more independent rings of apertures, and the spaces between the apertures are polished and plated with silver or chromium to provide highly reflecting surfaces. A number of separate light beams reflected from the picture surface are individually directed to the rings and each beam is alternately passed through the apertures or reflected from the intervening spaces on to photo-electric cells. In a two-channel system light from a source 1 is reflected from separate elemental areas of a picture surface 5 along paths 7, 9 through a lens 11 and is separated by adjustable openings 15, 17 of a diaphragm member 13. The beams, after reflection from a prism 19, are projected by a lens system 23 upon independent rings A, B of apertures 31 formed in a disc 29. The rings A, B include different numbers of apertures and each of the light beams 7, 9 alternately passes through the apertures 31 to be deflected by a prism 35 on to a photo-electric cell 39, or is reflected from the surface between the apertures on to a second photo-electric cell 41. Specification 340,886 is also referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that a disc with one ring of apertures may be employed in a single-channel transmission system. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
