H. ; 574, Parker Street, Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A.) April 23, 1930, No. 12599. Convention date, May 3, 1929. [Class 40 (iii).] The invention comprises arrangements of apparatus by which the output of each of a number of glow discharge devices, simultaneously influenced by received signals, is directed to adjacent elemental areas of a picture receiving surface. Light beams a .. e emanating from glow discharge lamps 2 .. 10, simultaneously influenced by received signals, are directed through adjustable openings 14 .. 22 of a diaphragm and the middle beam c passes without deflection through a square prism 36 to a prism 44. The other beams are reflected from prisms 24 .. 30 and 32 .. 40 to the prism 44 from which the five beams are reflected at the surface 46 to pass through condensing lenses 48, 50 to adjacent elemental areas 52 .. 60 of a record surface 62 carried on a rotating drum 64, moved in a longitudinal direction. The beams a .. e emanating from the prisms 32 .. 40 may pass through a lens and be projected upon scanning means so as to trace in a number of independent paths an image on a receiving screen.
