Abstract

346,106. Ironing-devices. SCARFFE, E., 18, Taunton Avenue, Belfast. Feb. 22, 1930, No. 5942. [Class 138 (ii).] A hand-pressing device for clothes or other personal wear comprises two plates 1, 2, having flared or curved ends and sides and supported across the ends of a pair of members 3, 4 which are pivoted together at 5 and of which the remote ends are formed as handles 3b, 4b whereby the plates can be opened or closed, scissor-fashion, upon the article confined between them. The plates may be heated electrically or otherwise. A semicircular portion may be provided in each supporting member between the plates and pivot, the circular space formed by the two members accommodating the material not being pressed.
