Abstract
373,627. Hair - curling appliances. FOGELIN, C. O. V., 13, Rue Ambroise Thomas, Paris. Feb. 19, 1931, No. 5310. [Class 131.] A pair of heating tongs comprises pivoted arms 15 carrying circular cups 1 containing flanged cover-plates 13, the rims of the cups being formed with recesses 3 .which form an aperture through which a support, upon which the hair is wound, passes into the chamber defined by the cover-plates 13 and the rims of the cups, whilst two other recesses 6 formed in the rims opposite the recesses 3 form an aperture through which the evolved vapours escape. The cups may be heated prior to use by a flame, or may be provided with electrical resistances 4 mounted between sheets 5 of mica or other insulating material and retained in position by the cover-plates 13. The cups are secured to the arms by short bolts 9 which do not penetrate the insulating material, and are normally held apart by a spring 7 mounted between the arms.
