[Class 44.] In a locking device of the kind in which one or more bolts are moved into and out of position by means of a rotatable member or sprocket to which the bolt is indirectly attached, the movement of the rotatable member 6 is transmitted to the bolts 11, 12 by articulated members or chains 9, 10 arranged to act in push and pull, and pivoted to radial lugs 7, 8 on the member 6. Guides 13, 14 for the chains are arranged in the casing 5, and rollers may be mounted on the links to reduce friction. In the form shown in Fig. 3, both chains are connected to the same lug 24, and in another form three bolts are connected to three lugs. The member 6 may be operated by a handle on the spindle 16 or by a key ; or a cylinder lock may be embodied in it.
