Coke-oven doors. - A packing cord is pressed into the joint by a frame having pressure members connected to a common actuating device which may also actuate all the locking bolts simultaneously. The bolts a are rotatably mounted on the door b, so as to engage behind the flanges c. The bolts are all connected together by a rod d, which when raised or lowered operates all the bolts simultaneously, and the rod is provided with teeth e engaging with a pinion mounted on the spindle of a hand-wheel f by which it is operated. The bolts a carry screws g which act against the frame i to press the packing h into its recess. The frame i may have inclined lugs m to contact with the screws, and the screws may have rotatable contact shoes. In a modification, the rod d may operate the frame i through toggle levers the door bolts being separately and independently operated.
