[Class 110 (ii).] Fixed - abutment type.-A knife or shear blade c is fitted to a casing b of a rotary pump and co-operates with specially hardened outwardlysliding vanes n to shear through any foreign substance which may enter the casing through the suction port s. The blades have trunnions f pivoted to blocks e which slide in grooves d in the casing walls. The cutting edge h of each vane lies on a straight line drawn from the rotor centre o through the trunnion axis f, in the cutting position. The casing around the delivery port D is cut away at g to prevent jamming of solid materials between the vanes and the casing.
