Abstract

336,369. Howard, A. E. Sept. 4, 1929. Grant of Patent refused. Couplings and connectors.-A connecting device has members adapted to pierce the insulation of a cable and make contact with the cable conductors. The lamp-holder shown in Fig. 1 is constructed of insulating material in two parts, the upper part 1 having the usual bayonet joint fitting but the spring contacts provided with projecting cones 9 and the lower part 4 having a transverse groove 5 for the cable and a mounting strip 8. The twin core cable, which preferably is rubber-covered, is arranged in the groove 5 and gripped therein by the parts being pulled together by the screws 7. The cones 9 pierce the cable insulation and make contact with the conductors. If lead-covered cable is used it is necessary to strip the covering off for a short distance. The joint may be covered with a sealing compound if desired. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 7161/11 and 132,482.
