Insulating coverings for cables and conductors; cables, arrangement and disposition of parts of. - An electric cable, comprising a conductor 1, insulated with layers of varnished cambric or similar semi-hygroscopic material 2 protected by a non waterproof covering 4, such as textile braid, is provided with a conductive sheath 3 wrapped tightly over the insulating material in order to provide a conducting surface which may be maintained at a uniform potential for testing purposes. The conductive sheath may consist of metallized paper tape, thin copper strip, or one or more metallic wires.
