Locking.-A lock nut device comprises on inner nut 1, threaded internally to fit the bolt 6 and externally to screw into an outer mantle 3. The part 1 is split throughout its length by a gap 5 and mav have further short splits in its lower extension 2. The engaging threads of the two parts are so shaped that on screwing the part 3 on the extension 2, the latter becomes reduced in diameter.
