332,981. India Rubber, Gutta Percha, & Telegraph Works Co., Ltd., and Avery, W. L. May 16, 1929. Covers and protectors for, brakes.-An annular cover member 1 of resilient material, for an internal expanding brake encircles the periphery of the brake drum which is away from the wheel and comprises a flap portion 2 bearing against a non- rotating disc 9. An internal circumferential groove in the cover fits over a rib 12 on the brake drum. The brake is operated by an inflatable tube 7 carried in a cylindrical support member 8 mounted upon the fixed disc 9. The flap 2 is given an inward set so that a lip 3 on the flap 2 bears lightly against the member 8 and the disc 9 at the junction thereof. A rib 5 forms a seating for the inner periphery of a wheel shield 13 attached by hooks 16 to the wheel rim or type. The normal circumference of the cover member is less than the brake drum so that it closely embraces the latter. Specifications 299,950, [Class 80 (ii).
