Abstract

331,104. Pfanhauser, W. A. F. July 2, 1929. Electrodes, moving.-In apparatus for internally plating a set of long hollow bodies such as tubes by travelling anodes of limited length, means are provided for simultaneously actuating all the anodes. In the apparatus shown each anode 2 is secured to a cable 8 passing round rollers 4 and tensioning rollers 11, the ends of the cable being joined by a detachable closure 3. The cables 8 are clamped in jaws 14 mounted on a transverse arm having at one end an internally threaded member 6 engaging a rotating screw 5 and resting at the other end on a guide rod, which serves as the anode connection. The member 6 engages guides, not shown, at the ends of its travel whereby the direction of rotation of the screw 5 is reversed automatically. The anodes are provided with insulating rings or stars 12. More than one anode may be mounted on each cable. The tubes 9 are mounted in tongs 10. The cable 8 may be enclosed in a rubber sheath.
