330,132. Fiat-Soc. Anon. Oct. 31, 1928, [Convention date]. Actuated by running axle; blocks and shoes acting on drums.-Lever brake mechanism having a drum 1 rotated by the vehicle transmission and adapted to be engaged by shoes 2 connected by a rod 6 to the vehicle brakes, comprises a lever 9 pivoted about the axis 5 of the drum 1 and connected to the member 11 operating the shoes and with one end of a swing lever 14 which is connected at an intermediate point to the brake pedal 12 and at its other end to the vehicle brake shaft 7. Pressure on the pedal applies the brake both through the servo-motor by the rod 15 and directly through the rod 16. The ratio between the operating levers is such that the hinge point 13<a> of the lever 14 is unaffected by the rotation of the shoes 2. The brake cam 4 is operated by toothed sectors 10, 11. The drum 1 is connected to the transmission by means of a fan wheel or a spring tooth coupling. to eliminate its action in reverse.
