Abstract

Flat endless-belt conveyers; auxiliary belts; discharging and feeding devices. - A belt conveyer system for newspapers or the like is adapted to convey the newspapers in a continuous stream from several sources simultaneously to certain normal destinations or from any of the sources to a destination other than the normal one. As shown, the conveyer comprises end sections A, B and an intermediate section C, the papers being conveyed from the presses by belts 1 and 2. Mounted co-axially with the belt pulleys 5, 6, 9, 10, 15 and 20 are gear wheels 5a, 6a, etc., and chain wheels 5b, 6b, etc., clutches being provided whereby said chain wheels may be released from or coupled to the gear wheels, the latter being secured to the corresponding shafts. To convey the papers from the presses to the corresponding delivery tables simultaneously, clutches 6, 10 are engaged and the remainder disengaged, gears 5a, 9a being in mesh with 6a, 10a respectively, and the diverter belts 27, 30 arranged as shown. By suitably adjusting the diverter belts 27, 30 by means of the pulleys 28, 29 and 31, 32 respectively and engaging the desired clutches, the papers can be conveyed from one press along the intermediate section and the remote end section in series. In this case metal gliders are provided which cooperate with the diverters to guide the papers from the section C along the following end section.
