Abstract

473,117. Endless - belt conveyers. JOHNS, H. S. Dec. 14, 1936, No. 34349. [Class 78 (i)] A conveyer comprising an endless moving tube supported upon pulleys and having at least one longitudinal slit in its wall, is provided with means for engaging the side of the tube opposite the slit to open this for the reception or discharge of material. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1, 5, the conveyer comprises trough-shaped belts 1, 2 travelling face to face and forming a moving tube with a longitudinal slit at the bottom as described in Specification 444,472, the slit being opened for discharging the conveyer by a roller 6, which is pressed against the top of the tube by clockwise movement of a handle 16. The .conveyer may consist of a single tubular belt as described in Specification 444,549. In another modification, Fig. 8, the tube is opened at the top for feeding purposes by a roller 22 formed with rings 24, which engage ribs 25 on the belts to prevent them accidentally splitting at the bottom.
