Abstract

325,745. Tobias, B. April 19, 1929. Planing.-A floor-surfacing machine, supported at one end on wheels 9, and at the other on wheeled skids 19, has a planing cutter block 6, the amount of the cut of which is adjusted by the screw 15 acting on the lever 12 against the action of the spring 14. Rollers 23, 24, mounted on one or both sides of the cutter, are provided with springs 28, which, when the machine is over a smooth surface are fully extended. Should a loose block be engaged and lifted by the cutter, it is pressed downwards by the rollers 24. The planing cutter 6 may be replaced by a sanding drum, and one journal of the machine can be adapted to receive an overhung tool. A suction fan may be provided to remove dust.
