Luggage and like racks and holders.-A luggage or like carrier for motor vehicles is adapted to be supported by suspension upon a spare wheel carried upon the vehicle. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the carrier is in the form of a box-like receptacle C having an extension or attachment part A forming a cover for the spare wheel W and having a roof 1 which rests upon the latter. The lower part of the attachment A may be provided with hook-members 2 for engaging the chassis or bars F secured to the chassis. Internally the attachment A may be furnished with a concave plate 5, Fig. 3, adapted to contact with the spare wheel tyre over a considerable area and adjustably mounted in relation to the roof 1 by telescopic spring devices 6 - - 9. Instead of the attachment being in the form of a cover for the spare wheel it may consist of three hook-members attached to the rear wall or partition P and embracing the spare wheel. In another construction, Fig. 4, the attachment A is formed from three sheet metal parts, one forming the roof 1 and rear wall P, while the other two form side members C' supporting between them the bars of a luggage grid C. In a further modification, the carrier is of a collapsable lazy-tongs construction.
