Abstract
193,277. Munn, W. Feb. 24, 1922. Receptacles, detachably securing to running- boards.-A luggage-carrier for securing articles of various widths to the running-board of a motor vehicle comprises a pair of brackets, each of which consists of a bar a adapted to rest on the upper surface of the running-board x, of means such as a lower bar a<2> and clamping-screw b for adjustably and removably fixing the bar a, and of a pair of vertical arms c, each of which is adjustably secured to the bar a so as to be capable either of sliding thereon or being turned down into a horizontal position parallel with the bar a for stowing purposes, the arms c having slots c' for the passage of straps for holding the luggage. As shown, each arm c is secured to the bar a by a threaded bolt d passing through a slot a<1> in the bar, and a small lug c<2> on the arm c also engages the slot a<1> to hold the arm c in a vertical position.
