Abstract

317,085. I. G. Farbenindustrie. Akt.- Ges. Aug. 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Yarns, treating with liquids, gases and vapours. -Cotton and artificial silk of regenerated cellulose are improved as regards tensile strength, elongation and closeness of structure by treating with glyoxal or an agent yielding glyoxal, such as tetramethylal glyoxal and n-tearabutylal glyoxal, for example in dilute aqueous solution, and subsequently pressing and drying. The treatment may, if desired, be carried out in a vacuum. In an example, ammoniacal copper oxide silk is impregnated with a 2 per cent solution of glyoxal, squeezed between rubber rollers and dried. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes the following example, -viscose silk is treated in an aqueous bath containing glyoxal, sodium dimethyl-aniline-parasulphonate and glycerine and then squeezed between rubber rollers and dried. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
