Abstract

312,509. Hezlet, R. K., and Condliffe, G. E. June 12, 1928. Pressure gauges.-Comprises a pressure gauge using a piezo-electric crystal isolated from the source of pressure by a fluid medium through which the pressure is transmitted to the crystal. The steel casing a adapted to be screwed to a gun or other pressure vessel carries an electrode c adapted to be connected to the indicating or recording apparatus. Within the casing is mounted by ebonite blocks or other means a piezo-crystal e the opposite surfaces of which are coated with a thick copper deposit, one such surface e<2> being connected to the electrode c and the other e<1> to the casing by means of a spring f. A flexible disc g of leather closes the casing which is filled with petroleum jelly or other insulating mixture. In a modification two such crystals are used, their coatings e<2> of surfaces of similar polarity being in contact and connected to the electrode c, the coatings of the other surfaces-also of similar polarity-being connected by springs to the casing.
