Abstract
311,502. Drysdale& Co., Ltd., and Drysdale, W. March 15, 1928. Pumping-machines; casings; impeller blades; regulating; motors, cooling.-An electric - motor m driving a centrifugal pump is enclosed in a weatherproof bell d secured to a fixture on the top of the pump casing j, and means are provided for circulating air upwards through the m'otor and downwards between the motor and the bell through air inlet and outlet valves which open automatically when the motor is running. As shown, air inlet valves h engaging seatings x are carried on the motor shaft by pivoted arms c, f, g having weights w, the centrifugal action of which causes the valves h to open. Balanced flap valves z on the motor are opened by the air current. The ventilating fan vanes v are fixed on the pivoted arms f, g carrying the inlet valves h. The pump has a vertical suction pipe band a horizontal discharge pipe c.
