309,940. Perkins, W. G. Jan. 18, 1928. Lixiviation followed by concentration. - A process for treating copper ores containing both copper sulphide and oxidized copper compounds consists in first removing the oxidized portion of the ore by lixiviation, for example with an ammoniacal solvent, and thereafter concentrating the residue, for example by froth flotation. so as to yield a sulphide concentrate. The ore may be first heated in a reducing atmosphere. under such conditions as to reduce the oxidized. copper compounds to a readily soluble form.
