S c r e w motors; driving and transmission mechanism, special application of. -The rotary motion of a windmill shaft 7 is converted into reciprocating motion in a pump or other rod 14 by a chain or the equivalent 16 which passes over a pulley 15 .on the shaft. A pulley 17. in the depending loop of the chain has an eccentric pin 19 on which is mounted a yoke 18 connected to the pump rod 14. The pin 19 may be placed in holes at different distances from the centre of the pulley 17 in order to vary the stroke of the pump rod. A cord 23 is provided to turn the wind wheel out of the wind.
