Abstract

322,328. Canfield, C. G. Nov. 23, 1928. Driving - gear. - In an internal - combustion or other fluid-pressure engine each piston 13 drives on to two intergeared crank-shafts 16 through connecting-rods 21; the length of the rods and spacing of the shafts &c. is such that at the commencement of the power stroke the cranks 20 are horizontal as shown and at the end of the stroke each shaft has moved through 120‹. A pair of cylinders may be placed side by side, the pistons being arranged so that the shafts are driven continuously over 240‹.
