Abstract

300,247. Lancer Fuel Saving Corporation. Nov. 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Steam, supplying; blast apparatus and draught inducers. - Steam-generator furnaces wherein steam jets are used for inducing the draught and for injection of steam into the fuel bed have these jets supplied with steam from an extraneous source during heating-up. As shown applied to a locomotive boiler an auxiliary blow pipe 9 in the smoke-box 10 and a sprayer 12 which delivers a cone of steam jets on to the fuel in the fire-box 13 are connected through a steam distributor 7 to a three-way cock 1 whereby they may be supplied either from the boiler by a pipe 2 for normal working or from an extraneous source by a pipe 5 during heating- up. The pipe 5 may be connected with another locomotive under steam or with steam pipes laid along the tracks. Waste steam from locomotives being blown off may be utilized. In stationary gas generator furnaces a small water receptacle may be heated by the generated gas to supply the steam distributing means for starting-up.
