Abstract

299,775. Bastl, G. Oct. 23, 1928. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Nov. 1, 1928]. Combined hand driving and steering mechanism; hand driving-mechanism.-Bicycles &c. are provided with an auxiliary hand-operated front wheel drive comprising a bar 4 mounted on the stem 1 of the steering fork and provided with a forked front end to receive a chain wheel 5, which is in driving connection with the front wheel by a chain 13 and is rotated by means of a pair of cranks 9 and connecting-rods 8 from a transverse arm 10, which is adapted to be reciprocated backwards and forwards by means of a guide collar 7 slidably mounted on the rear stem part 6 of the forked bar 4, the arm 10 also serving as the steering or handle bar. The stem 6 is bent downwards to carry a fixed steering bar 11 for use when the pedal drive alone is being employed.
