Abstract

Cores for cables.-A cable for transmission of power at very high voltage comprises circular wires 1 plaited in one or more layers into a hollow body free from twist. Fig. 1 shows one form of the hollow cable, and Fig. 3 shows a length of the plaited conductor cut and opened out. The wires may be plaited over a selfsupporting layer of wires 2 which form a hollow core, the wires 2 being held in position by the plaited wires 1, as shown in Fig. 5. Spacing members may be arranged on the inner wires to prevent collapse of the hollow core.
